| Position: Nursing
Director Summary of Position:
- Under the general and direct supervision of the Medical
Director and the Administrator.
- Provides for the direction, provision and quality of
nursing services provided to clients.
Responsibilities:
- Participate (or select a designee) as part of the Inter
Disciplinary Team in developing, implementing, reviewing and
revising the client plan of care.
- Perform the initial nursing assessment for each member,
and write clinical progress notes as needed. (the DON may
perform a home assessment, if necessary). Vitals must be
taken the first five days of attendance.
- Develop and implement a quality assurance program for
the nursing service.
- Participate in the budgeting for the nursing service.
Foster positive relations with outside vendors in obtaining
medical supplies for the Center. Adhere to the established
budget as defined by Administration in obtaining floor stock
items and supplies.
- Coordinate and integrate outside client care services to
provide a continuum of care for the client (re. dental
services, podiatry services, optometry services, physical
therapy, psychiatric services, etc.)
- Ensure that nursing services are provided to the client
as specified in the nursing care plan. Ensure that ancillary
nursing personnel are assigned duties based upon education,
training and competency.
- Provide staff and client education programs (i.e.,
infection control).
- Arrange for all doctor’s appointments at the request of
members. Provide daily list of appointments to the Director
of Transportation to ensure proper transport.
- Administer prescribed medications, as necessary, and in
accordance with the 2nd Home Policy and Procedure Manual
(Ensure medicines and Class II medications are properly
secured). Maintain existing relationship with local pharmacy
in procuring prescriptions.
- Administer and read mantoux tests to new personnel, as
directed by the Administrator.
- Respond, in writing, to comments, questions or concerns,
submitted by the consultant pharmacist during his monthly
chart review. The response must be returned to the
Administrator within one week of receipt of the pharmacists
report.
- Possess complete familiarity with the local 9-1-1
emergency procedure.
- Contact Administrator immediately in case of emergency
or unscheduled absence from the Program.
- Notify Administrator of all emergencies and
hospitalizations immediately. Notify member emergency
contact source, as appropriate, of concerns, suggestions or
emergencies.
- Attend Director’s meetings, staff meetings and IDTs as
scheduled.
- Make a commitment to cooperative performance to attain
care, organization and programmatic objectives which may
entail performing duties not included in this job
description.
Qualifications:
- Must be a registered professional nurse, licensed by the
State of New Jersey Department of Health, with at least one
year full-time, or full-time equivalent, experience in
nursing supervision and/or nursing administration in a
licensed health care facility.
- Must have verification card of current CPR instruction.
- Must possess a basic proficiency in English, spelling
and math, and basic knowledge of word processing/spreadsheet
computer programs.
