| Position: Registered
Nurse (RN) Summary of Position:
- Under the general and direct supervision of the Director
of Nursing.
- Provides for the establishment and maintenance of
nursing care in the Medical Day Care Center.
Responsibilities:
- Provide or supervise the nursing care of each program
participant.
- Participate in the quality assurance program for client
care.
- Participate in the development and review of the
participants care plans.
- Participate in the distribution, administration and
storage of all medications
- Advise the Administrator/Director of Nursing of medical
and related problems.
- Maintains proper attendance and punctuality to ensure
that the facility is operated in an efficient and cost
effective manner.
- Encourage and coordinate the keeping of scheduled
appointments and having prescriptions filled promptly.
- Note any significant changes in the participant’s
behavior and condition and report them to the Director of
Nursing.
- Ensure the completion and accuracy of the participants’
medical records as well as proving for their secure storage
and confidentiality.
- Assist as necessary in the delivery of other center
services.
- Attend Inter Disciplinary Team meetings as directed by
the Director of Nursing.
- Attend staff meetings, as scheduled.
- Perform the initial nursing assessment for each member,
and write clinical progress notes as needed. Vitals must be
taken the first five (5) days of attendance.
- Arrange for doctor’s appointments at the request of
members. Provide daily list of appointments to the Director
of Transportation to ensure proper transport.
- Administer prescribed medications, as necessary, and in
accordance with the 2nd Home Policy and Procedure Manual
(Ensure medicines and Class II medications are properly
secured). Maintain existing relationship with local pharmacy
in procuring prescriptions.
- Administer and read mantoux tests to new personnel, as
directed by the Director of Nursing.
- Posses complete familiarity with the local 9-1-1
emergency procedure.
- Notify Director of Nursing/Administrator of all
emergencies and hospitalizations immediately. Notify
emergency contact source, as appropriate, of concerns,
suggestions or emergencies.
- Make a commitment to cooperative performance to attain
care, organization and programmatic objectives which may
entail performing duties not included in this job
description.
Qualifications:
- A licensed registered nurse, licensed by the New Jersey
State Dept. of Health or a graduate nurse who has taken, or
will take, the licensing examination at the first available
date, and has a temporary work permit issued by the New
Jersey State Board of Nursing. A permanent license must be
obtained prior to the expiration of the temporary permit
- Must have verification card of current instruction in
CPR.
- Must possess a basic proficiency in English, spelling
and math.
- Knowledge of basic computer programs – Word and Excel.
- Must have a minimum of one-year full time, or full time
equivalent, experience in a licensed health care facility.
- It is preferable that the experience has involved
working with the aging and adults with chronic impairments
and that all or part of the experience has been in a
community health setting.
