Position: Receptionist

Summary of Position:

  • Under the general and direct supervision of the Administrator.
  • Provides clerical, secretarial and receptionist support, independently and with minimum supervision. Performs other diverse duties as requested or required.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedules, receives and directs patients and visitors to the appropriate area or personnel, regardless of race, creed, age, gender or disability, without prejudice.
  • Maintains responsibility for general secretarial support functions to ensure efficient utilization of time; schedules appointments; coordinates services.
  • Screens and refers incoming phone calls and visitors to ensure the accurate and timely communication.
  • Maintains appropriate records to ensure the expeditious retrieval of information.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of office supplies and other materials to allow staff to complete assigned responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all clients, family members, medical staff, visitors and personnel.
  • Maintains proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the office is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Performs housekeeping duties in his/her area by routine and periodic cleaning.
  • Answers telephone in a courteous, helpful manner.
  • Assists in the pulling of medical records upon request and completes tracking in an accurate manner.
  • Assists in the copying of medical records for release of information, assuring confidentially of all records.
  • Attends staff meetings as required.
  • Can be depended upon to modify work schedule as required by the office and according to policy.
  • Interacts with fellow employees in a way that promotes a harmonious and cooperative working environment.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all current and former members/charts as required.
  • Make a commitment to cooperative performance to attain care, organization and programmatic objectives which may entail performing duties not included in this job description.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have superficial knowledge of the reasons for client care as provided.
  • Must possess a basic proficiency in English, spelling and math.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computes – spreadsheets, word processing.
  • This could be an entry-level job. However some clerical experience in a medical setting is preferable.
